Nearly 50 women’s hockey fans gathered at The Westy at Roosevelt on Monday, February 3 for the first-ever Women’s Pro Hockey Seattle viewing party. Fans cheered on Team USA and Team Canada in the #RivalrySeries game hosted in Victoria, BC. Team Canada won the match in an exciting overtime victory, tightening the series to a 2-1 USA lead.
While the NHL Network delayed its coverage of the Rivalry Series game in order to show the third period and overtime of the men’s Beanpot hockey game, fans gathered at The Westy still had a great time. Drink and food were flowing, and the atmosphere was hopping. Some fans turned to their phones to view the game on social media, while others tried their hands at The Westy’s games, generating some of their own heated rivalries at the bubble hockey table! The event was highlighted by an autograph session with Olympian, Experience Momentum owner, and #WoProHoSeattle spokesperson, Kelly Stephens Tysland.
Also making an appearance were two special mascot guests: Lincoln of the Everett Silvertips, who signed autographs and played games, and Webbly of the Everett AquaSox, who entertained hockey fans with his antics!
WoProHoSeattle also handed out windshield stickers and door prizes. The grand prize was a Women’s Pro Hockey Seattle jersey, won by local girls’ hockey coach, Anne Marie Dion.
Various organizations contributed other door prizes, including:
Two $25 gift certificates from The Westy,
Two hats from Kelly Stephens Tyslands’ Experience Momentum
A gift pack from NHL to Seattle containing a bag, hockey puck, and mug, plus posters of NWHL All-Star from the Boston Pride (and Snohomish local) Lexi Bender and Canadian National Team star Natalie Spooner
A gift package from Seattle Metropolitans that contacted socks, scarf, and a women’s hockey t-shirt
